Google’s Eric Schmidt made the comment: “Our computers drive our cars better than you do when you’re drunk. That’s our starting point.”

Meant to be somewhat humorous, but Mr. Schmidt is serious. Driverless cars are already better than an impaired driver. Soon they will be better than the average driver. And eventually they will be better than all human drivers.
